In recent years, the mobile industry in the 4 Asia/Pacific emerging countries has grown at an extraordinary rate. There are approximately 89 million mobile subscribers at the end of 2006 in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam combined, although the penetration is still low at approximately 21%. With a total population of more than 418 million in all four countries, IDC expects the demand for mobile services to grow rapidly. In this webcast, IDC provides an overview of the mobile market in these 4 countries and explains how subscribers and service trends have evolved over the past year. We also share IDC's latest 2011 forecast data for the total number of mobile subscribers, segmented by subscription, prepaid and contract, and the total mobile service revenue.
