Mark Roberts is Vice-President, Ecosystem Marketing for Polycom. In this role, he is responsible for the consolidation of Polycom’s strategic alliance partnerships with other leading vendors in the Unified Communications ecosystem, including Alcatel-Lucent, Avaya, Cisco Systems, IBM, Microsoft and Nortel Networks. Mr Roberts was also instrumental in the establishment of Polycom’s ARENA programme for third-party application providers, and is overseeing its expansion globally.
Mr Roberts is renowned as an expert in Unified Communications. Over recent years, Mr Roberts has spearheaded a number of strategic projects for Polycom that have drawn on his experience in the development of user-centric collaborative communications solutions, and his background in Unified Communications – which dates back to 1999. At that time, Mr Roberts was part of the management team at Israel-based Accord Networks that instigated the integration of messaging and presence capabilities into Web conferencing technology, and envisioned the single user environment/many devices concept that underpins Unified Communications today.
After joining Polycom through its acquisition of Accord Networks in 2001, Mr Roberts later helped progress the shift of technology solutions from traditional scheduled conferencing to on-demand collaboration in his role as Vice-President, Marketing for the Network Systems Division (which recently merged with the Video Business Unit to form Polycom’s Video Solutions Group).
During his 15+ years in the industry, Mr Roberts has also held a number of key regional sales and marketing positions with other leading vendors including 3Com and Intel, where he played a pivotal role in the introduction of the ProShare® desktop conferencing product.
Mr Roberts is a member of the American-Israeli Chamber of Commerce, and a board member of the Interactive Multimedia Collaborative Communications Alliance (IMCCA), a non-profit industry association that provides impartial information and education about people-to-people communication and collaboration technology and applications. |
