    Sean Lord Sean Lord
General Manager, Specialised Services, Asia/Pacific, Verizon Business

The proliferation of high-speed, always-on Internet connections has magnified the threat of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks on corporate and government networks.  Often participants to attacks are unwitting, and if unaddressed the costs to the business can be significant.

Managed Network-based DOS defense detection and mitigation provides organisations with the ability to address key issues and business needs created by today's Internet threats:

  • Business Continuity & Compliance – Complement your company’s continuity and industry/regulatory compliance programs.
  • Cost Control and Centralization – Reduce costs associated with maintaining internal personnel and acquiring technology.
  • Network Security Complexity - It is increasingly complex for network engineers to combat these newly created threats.
  • Risks and Vulnerability Management – minimise financial and business impact of threats.

Verizon has the largest IP backbone in the world. As a result, a majority of the Internet traffic traverses its network. By offering a network-based Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection service, Verizon is best positioned to identify Internet-based DDoS attacks within its Internet backbone. This presentation will highlight the benefits of an "in the IP cloud" solution.

In today's keen competition, sustainable business growth is the focus of all businesses large or small.  Millions of IT professionals are under tremendous pressure to support such high growth and dynamic business environment and CIOs have been asked to deliver more with less.  However, they all have the challenges in shortages of staff skill and resources. Many face difficult ROI decision in technology investment.  Instead of helping the business to reap the benefits from technology advancement by making the right ICT investment, many appear to be the bottleneck.  This presentation will describe how this pain could be released by deploying the Managed Services and the road to business success from taking advantage of Managed Services.  Example of successful Managed Services will also be discussed.

11:55 am Smarter Document Management in your Organization
Tee Hsien Wee Tee Hsien Wee
Regional Director, Fuji Xerox Global Service

Every organization – small startups, growing mid-size and global corporations – has made an investment in Information Technology.

The emphasis for businesses as they try to reduce cost and improves productivity is not to eliminate paper, but to streamline how the information embedded in the paper documents is handled. Many organizations are looking to the people and processes actively shaping their workplace. They are interested in growing smarter and not bigger.

So, how can you tailor and manage the technology to best meet your needs, and how can you later alter your processes to best use the technology? When it comes to investing in IT, there is a marked shift from the “T” to the “I” – from the technology to the information. It’s information that generates new ideas and drives decisions.
