Risk and Reputation: Leveraging the Assets of your Managed Services Provider? |
| |
|
 |
Sean Lord
General Manager Asia/Pacific, Verizon |
| |
|
The proliferation of high-speed, always-on Internet connections has magnified the threat of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks on corporate and government networks. Often participants to attacks are unwitting, and if unaddressed the costs to the business can be significant.
Managed Network-based DOS defense detection and mitigation provides organisations with the ability to address key issues and business needs created by today's Internet threats:
- Business Continuity & Compliance – Complement your company’s continuity and industry/regulatory compliance programs.
- Cost Control and Centralization – Reduce costs associated with maintaining internal personnel and acquiring technology.
- Network Security Complexity - It is increasingly complex for network engineers to combat these newly created threats.
- Risks and Vulnerability Management – minimise financial and business impact of threats.
Verizon has the largest IP backbone in the world. As a result, a majority of the Internet traffic traverses its network. By offering a network-based Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection service, Verizon is best positioned to identify Internet-based DDoS attacks within its Internet backbone. This presentation will highlight the benefits of an "in the IP cloud" solution. |

How Managed Services with Proactive Voice Quality Performance Management enable true VoIP experience in today's Hyperconnected World |
| |
|
 |
Praveen Kumar
Vice President, Nortel Global Services, Asia |
| |
|
It's a Hyperconnected World, and the promise of benefits-ranging from improved productivity and workforce mobility to streamlined infrastructure and reduced operating costs-has many enterprises moving to voice over IP (VoIP). There are a number of hurdles to be cleared, however, before these benefits can be realized, such as acquiring the necessary technical skills, minimizing transition risks, predicting and managing costs, and assuring high voice quality. A network-management strategy focused on voice quality also is essential. This includes real-time monitoring of voice-quality criteria at the infrastructure level as well as by call. However, the expertise necessary for these types of voice-quality measurement and analysis is relatively new and not widely available.
A case study on CLSA, an award-winning brokerage, investment banking and private equity group-serving customers across eleven Asia-Pacific countries, has shown that Managed VoIP with "Proactive Voice Quality Management" (PVQM) services can provide Next Generation Enterprises with the necessary skills and expertise to ensure that voice quality meets or exceeds expectations in today's Hyperconnected World. |

Infrastructure as A Service. Why And When To Co-Source. |
| |
|
 |
Brian Klingbeil
Vice President, Finance and Strategic Planning, SAVVIS Inc. |
| |
|
Service Providers that support applications and delivery of those applications are continually optimizing the cost, speed, and quality of those services. Technology focus and investment, economies of scale, and shared economics all create numerous natural advantages over Enterprises who own and operate their own IT infrastructure. Outsourcing at the infrastructure level gives enterprises an alternative to owning and operating devices that are far outside their core competency, allowing them to focus resources on the tasks that differentiate them. The evolution of Utility Compute, Virtualization and pay-as-you-use billing options all contribute to a widening gap between what a Service Provider can offer and what an Enterprise can execute in a do-it-yourself model. Companies must fully understand the total costs that they will be moving to a co-sourcing partner in order to make an informed decision about what to outsource and when. |

 |
Jennifer Yeo

Constantly changing technologies can make it difficult for enterprise customers to focus on their core business. Often, they spend too much time and money searching for the right communications system and developing a technology support team, instead of growing their core business competencies. With a unified communications managed services, customers can focus on generating new business and increasing revenues. |

Smarter Document Management in your Organization |
| |
|
 |
Lim Kok Quee
Senior Regional Director, Fuji Xerox Global Services |
| |
|
Every organization – small startups, growing mid-size and global corporations – has made an investment in Information Technology. According to IDC, by 2007 offices around the world will produce 4.5 trillion pages of hardcopy information.
The emphasis for businesses as they try to reduce cost and improves productivity is not to eliminate paper, but to streamline how the information embedded in the paper documents is handled. Many organizations are looking to the people and processes actively shaping their workplace. They are interested in growing smarter and not bigger.
So, how can you tailor and manage the technology to best meet your needs, and how can you later alter your processes to best use the technology? When it comes to investing in IT, there is a marked shift from the “T” to the “I” – from the technology to the information. It’s information that generates new ideas and drives decisions. |
