Businesses are critically impacted by IT service quality and continuity.  While companies in Asia Pacific are taking steps to consolidate and virtualize the infrastructure and IT workloads, it is pertinent that organizations understand the new best practices, reviewed in the context of IT workload optimization, monitoring and migration that impacts business service quality.  Many new and old factors now impact IT quality of service.  New emerging solutions need to be considered and factored into organization IT blueprint.  These are now available that are cost effective in leading a new way of measuring IT services, managing disaster recovery IT services and optimizing virtualized and physical IT workload management with a view to improve service quality and resilience.  IT workload needs to be reviewed in the context of holistic enterprise architecture alignment towards manageability, availability and simplicity.  New transformational approaches to simplify management and reduce capital and operational costs are now the focus.   This session reviews trends, pressing issues, challenges, emerging technologies, trends, best practices pertaining to IT workload management.  New insights that will take organizations to a new level towards a dynamic virtualized IT environment which is essential to today’s leading mantra of “invest to save, invest to lead and invest to grow” will be presented with a new perspective of building, managing and measuring IT virtualized workload.

10.10 am Fujitsu's Approach to Cloud Computing
  Junichi Shimada,
General Manager, Product Marketing & Alliances Unit, Product Planning Division, Fujitsu Ltd.
The future always looks like a distant place until you get there - its only then you realize that you should have planned things a bit better. Cloud Computing, if you only believe some of the hype, will allow you a whole new way of putting all the lego blocks together - a whole new architecture. What can you do now to help you plan for the fast approaching future? Understanding your current workloads and using heterogeneous management tools for virtual systems is a good start. Understanding how your applications fit into your companies value chain is better still. This presentation will give an evaluation of how current technology will morph into the cloud and how to get the best advantage for your enterprise in the near term.

10.50 am Coffee Break

11.10 am Color me a Green Cloud
  Paul Capino,
Manager, Fujitsu Platform Products, Fujitsu Ltd.

The hype has been building. Unanswered questions on security, benefits and what-it'll-look-like-for-me type of questions have all been answered by industry experts and their constant stream of presentations. However, most are misguided and assumed that cost savings could be achieved just by switching portions of their infrastructure over into the cloud. From the hosting point of view – does this really result in cost savings?

In Fujitsu we do not believe in the saying that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but instead we are constantly innovating in ways that allow us to color ourselves green. If we have a choice, the clouds would be "green" and not white.
