Track 1: Consumer and Convergence

1:05 - 1:45 pm Explosion of Video Content: Are There Too Many Choices for Consumers in Asia?
    Claudio Checchia Claudio Checchia
Research Manager, Asia/Pacific Consumer Research, IDC Asia/Pacific
The adoption of traditional pay-TV services over cable, satellite and IPTV in Asia continues to grow. The emergence of new content distribution channels, such as Internet video, mobile TV, and video on demand, is allowing consumers in Asia to gain access to more types of content from multiple sources, going beyond the traditional living room setting. Although the disruption of traditional pay TV by Internet video isn't going to happen overnight, these new content distribution channels and new types of content raise again the question of viable business models in this hotly contested space. This presentation will present IDC's latest research from APeJ as well as results from our end-user surveys.
