Mobility is already
making a major impact with many organizations
worldwide; increased flexibility, new services,
greater productivity, employee satisfaction
and rapid return on investment are all part
of the mobility revolution. Mobile phones
and mobile devices have deep penetration within
many organizations. Most organizations have
around 30% of their workforce already mobile;
of these workers there is almost 100% penetration
of mobile devices used for voice and an increasing
penetration for data. As the usage of mobile
data increases, there are security risks that
must be acknowledged and dealt with. At the
same time, organizations remain pressed on
the expenditure front.
This presentation will look at where the
mobility market is headed, how to enable
and secure a mobile workforce and show some
examples of mobility in use.

The
Evolution of the Personal Area Network |
| |
|
 |
Eric
Schneider
Marketing Director,
Bluetooth SIG APAC and Japan
|
| |
|
The Personal Area Network (PAN)
has taken giant steps forward in the past
5 years with the introduction and steady maturity
of Bluetooth wireless technology and is positioned
to become more robust and dynamic with the
introduction of vastly higher data rates made
possible by Ultra-Wide Band technology. To
date, PAN adoption has been consumer driven
and making its way into the enterprise arena
via the individual user rather than the enterprise
IT infrastructure. Companies that prepare
for the coming onslaught of the products and
there capabilities, by accepting PAN as a
value added business tool and engage with
it, are more likely to realize fewer security
risks and create greater efficiencies. |
