Mobility is already making a major impact with many organizations worldwide; increased flexibility, new services, greater productivity, employee satisfaction and rapid return on investment are all part of the mobility revolution. Mobile phones and mobile devices have deep penetration within many organizations. Most organizations have around 30% of their workforce already mobile; of these workers there is almost 100% penetration of mobile devices used for voice and an increasing penetration for data. As the usage of mobile data increases, there are security risks that must be acknowledged and dealt with. At the same time, organizations remain pressed on the expenditure front.

This presentation will look at where the mobility market is headed, how to enable and secure a mobile workforce and show some examples of mobility in use.

    Eric Schneider Eric Schneider
Marketing Director, Bluetooth SIG, Inc.
The Personal Area Network (PAN) has taken giant steps forward in the past 5 years with the introduction and steady maturity of Bluetooth wireless technology and is positioned to become more robust and dynamic with the introduction of vastly higher data rates made possible by Ultra-Wide Band technology. To date, PAN adoption has been consumer driven and making its way into the enterprise arena via the individual user rather than the enterprise IT infrastructure. Companies that prepare for the coming onslaught of the products and there capabilities, by accepting PAN as a value added business tool and engage with it, are more likely to realize fewer security risks and create greater efficiencies.

3G in Your Enterprise

    Soma Ramasamy Soma Ramasamy
Director, Operator Enterprise Solutions South East Asia, Ericsson Telecommunications Pte Ltd
Mobility in Enterprises is a fast establishing trend. Beginning with voice, and now basic office applications such as Email, mobile workers will soon be able to work just as effectively away from the office, as they can in the office. With the advent of 3G, bandwidth should be less of a concern for majority of corporate applications to be accessed wirelessly.

However, taking the core enterprise applications mobile is a less explored territory. It should be based on clear business objectives/ goals and be grounded in sound business case. Prioritizing the target audience and right applications is also a task that needs careful consideration. In this session, the speaker will share with you Ericsson's experience and insights in Enterprises leveraging the 3G technology.
