James Ryan, vice president of Asia Pacific
operations, adds 15 years of experience
in opening new markets in the Asia Pacific
region for U.S.-based technology companies.
Ryan's knowledge of the area will be particularly
relevant as Egenera continues expanding
its Asia Pacific presence and forging beneficial
partnerships in the territory.
Ryan joins Egenera from Telemedia Networks
International where he served as vice president
of sales. In this position, he successfully
delivered the IPO prospectus year revenue
number and set up and staffed offices in
Japan, Asia, Europe and Latin America. Prior
to this, Ryan was the vice president of
Asia Pacific at Excel Switching Corporation,
where he founded the regional office and
developed a network of channels that produced
$15 million-over 10 percent of global revenue-in
his first full fiscal year at the company.
He began his career at Octel Communications,
a world leader in telecommunications voicemail
platforms, where he built-out the Tokyo
office while breaking into the competitive
Japanese telecommunications service provider
market.
Ryan has a bachelor's degree from Harvard
University and a master's degree from Osaka
University in Japan.
