| Why Manufacturing Insights’ Factory 2020? |
| |
|
The future manufacturing plant in the year 2020, will be one having perfect vision - vision into its own operations, vision into its supply chain, and vision into customer demands…Factory 2020, and with vision comes the ability to be responsive, responsible and reliable.
Manufacturers need to put in place the roadmap to change their operations to have the vision and to then harness that vision and turn it into products. The change will not happen overnight, but will be a continuous development, as all processes within the enterprise develop and integrate their processes so as to be ready for the next decade’s challenges. |

| Reliable, Responsive, and Responsible |
| |
|
As we enter the second decade of the 21st century, manufacturers have already felt the speed at which the operating environment changes, from the heady, profitable, days of 2008, to the global recession of 2009, and the green shoots of 2010. What will the second decade have in store for manufacturers? One thing is certain, rapid change will be here to stay.
-
In dealing with rapid change we have seen the need for responsiveness through all the manufacturing processes from the need to have rapid product innovation, being able to meet customer demand through a multitude of channels, and being able to coordinate the supply chain.
-
Coupled with this is the growing need for responsibility, as compliance requirements, whether legislatively driven or customer driven drive the need for monitoring the entire manufacturing process.
-
Finally the need for reliability is becoming a key decision criteria, as customers look for suppliers who are stable, have total control over their manufacturing processes and can consistently meet all customer requirements.
