As Chief Technology Officer for Macquarie Telecom, Dean Forster is the main architect of Macquarie Telecom's product roadmap and strategy. He is responsible for ensuring that Macquarie Telecom's products and services incorporate the latest voice and data communications technologies, and remain innovative and relevant to customers. This includes the challenges of making technology fit products with the objective of meeting customers' needs for value-added services.

A telecommunications industry veteran, Dean has more than sixteen years of experience in the Australian and Singapore markets. He started his career with the Australian Overseas Telecommunications Commission (OTC) for five years, which at the time managed all international communications from Australia, working with all the major communications technologies such as Satellite, Data, Voice and Video. In this role, Dean picked up valuable experience in a wide range of telecommunications fields and dealings with hundred of overseas countries and carriers.

For the last seven years, Dean has been with Macquarie Telecom as the Head of Macquarie Telecom's engineering division. He is now based in Singapore, overseeing the roll out of the company's Global IP, network and security products in Asia Pacific.

During this time, Dean played a key role in several major projects including the building of Macquarie Telecom's nationwide Australian Data Network with 14 PoPs. He also headed the team that built a $35million industry-leading Data Centre in Australia, one of only two to hold Australia's highest security certification and achieve the Defence Signals Directorate Gateway Certification. As part of the pioneer batch of Macquarie Telecom executives tasked with setting up is Singapore operations, Dean oversaw the installation of Macquarie Telecom's voice infrastructure and data switches in Singapore.

In his spare time, Dean stays close to the technology space. This includes being a member of industry IT forums such as the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce's IT committee and Australian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore's IT groups. Dean is also active in local public IT forums, and participates in debates focusing on topics ranging from blogging to broadband services.

Dean is a multi-talented musician who is well versed in piano and guitar and enjoys working with his two children to keep the family tradition of musical performance going.
