Here Comes the Cloud: New IT Models for Growth and Innovation |
| |
 |
Chris Morris
Director, Asia Pacific Services, IDC Asia/Pacific |
| |
Very few business strategies today can be successfully executed without information technology (IT) to support them. In fact, market leaders acknowledge that IT is not really so much a separate function within their companies, as it is an integral and strategic part of their operating infrastructure. Yet, with traditional IT systems requiring large capital outlays and technical staffs, and taking too much time to implement and change, many businesses - large and small alike - have been severely limited in their ability to use IT to innovate, compete and grow - especially in the current economic climate. But all of that is about to change.
This session will share the latest intelligence from our Asia Pacific research and our perspectives on new "cloud-enabled" IT models that leverage software-as-a-service, "mashup" application models, next-generation on-premise systems, and very large, global solution marketplaces to "democratize" IT access, and finally allow organizations to out-innovate and out execute their competitors, not based on the size of their IT budgets or skills, but on the power of their ideas. |

Preparing For The Enterprise Cloud |
| |
 |
Ken Pepple
Chief Technologist, Principal Engineer Asia Pacific, Systems Engineering, Sun Microsystems Inc. |
| |
For 25 years, Sun has been guided by the vision that "the network is the computer." With the explosion of cloud computing in 2008, that vision is truer than ever. As Cloud Computing service begins to evolve, it will continue to impact the way IT infrastructure is designed and delivered to meet the varied needs of Web, business and HPC users. Indeed, many enterprises are looking to the future and figuring out which technologies will be most important and how to take advantage of them to stay ahead. This session will look into the challenges, inhibitors and advantages of Cloud Computing and address how enterprises should start preparing their IT architectures to benefit from the efficiencies of the Cloud model. |

How to tap on the full performance of Cloud Computing? |
| |
 |
Horst Iblher
Director Sales Support and Service Management, T-Systems Singapore |
| |
In the current times of economic uncertainties, the call for flexibility and efficiency is growing ever louder. But achieving agility is easier said than done. How can you gain efficiency while improving service quality, streamline business processes and obtain cost savings? How do you turn your cost drivers into added value to your business? New innovative concepts based on cloud computing are necessary to meet these demands to keep up with the tempo and agility the company requires. And especially during these bad economic times, organisations cannot afford to work as closed monolithic systems with rigid ICT structures. Learn how using the innovative concept, dynamic services, based on cloud services can optimally support your business, enforce concrete SLAs and lowers the risk of investment for long term competitive advantage. |

Bright days for Cloud Computing |
| |
|
Hemant S Shah
ASEAN Executive, Infrastructure Business, Systems & Technology Group, IBM ASEAN |

The buzz around Cloud Computing has picked-up faster than any other "new" idea in computing in recent times. The good part is that it is real, and delivering the benefits claimed, and the not so good part is that many repackaged ideas are being labeled as Cloud Computing in absence of a clear definition from any academic or industry source. This session will present the various interpretations of Cloud Computing, and what are the reality checks for customers excited by the perceived benefits of Cloud Computing. As it often happens, there are instances of technologies looking for a problem to solve, and the key player: the applications are forgotten in the rush to promote. |

Open the Cloud. Unleash the Open Source Potential |
| |
 |
Frank Feldmann
Senior Product Manager, Red Hat Asia Pacific Japan |
| |
Cloud computing is one of the key trends that is set to reshape the IT marketplace with two attractive promises. First, it promises a degree of flexibility and agility that in traditional data center thinking is only available to those with deep pockets. A luxury many do not have. Secondly, it represents the next logical step in the commoditization of the computing resources which simply put means you can save cost. In this session Red Hat will explain why
Open Source is a vital ingredient of Cloud Computing and the role Linux and Open Source Virtualization play in the Construction of the Cloud. Public and Private cloud concepts and examples will be discussed. |
