In the dynamic and heterogeneous world of manufacturing,
where new markets, products and technologies are in
constant play; products lifecycles are widely variable;
and supply chains are increasingly virtual and complex;
survival and winning in the long term depends on a "hard-to-copy"
mix of competencies to manage both the resultant internal
and external dynamism.
Manufacturers need to build strong foundations around
their operations and business processes; be open and
adept in collaboration; as well as dexterous and effective
in business decision-making. In effect, manufacturers
need to gain mastery of their triple-chains: the material
chain, the financial chain, and the information chain.
The material chain deals with the management of goods
and material resources; the financial chain involves
the management of financial flows; and the information
chain has to do with the management of information flowing
throughout the manufacturing operations. Traditionally,
improvements and innovations are largely disparate and
focused within each of these chains. Next-generation
manufacturers need to integrate and synchronize their
triple chains, in addition to individually optimizing
the flows within each of these chains. In addition,
they need to master the competency of substituting inefficient
and costly flows of materials and finances with timely
and cost-efficient information flows.
In this special MI event, senior line-of-business (VP
Manufacturing, COO) and senior IT (CIO, CTO, IT Heads/Directors)
executives from manufacturing organizations in Singapore
will hear first-hand from Manufacturing Insights (MI)
speaker key trends affecting their industry and given
a preview of MI's research around IT economics.
