to IDC's latest study, "Asia/Pacific
(excluding Japan) Enterprise
Resource Management Applications
Forecast and Analysis, 2006-2010"
(Doc #AP32-C120706-06), the
Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan)
applications market, valued
at US$1.26 billion in 2005,
is expected to grow steadily
at a five-year compound annual
growth rate (CAGR) of 10.6%
to reach US$2.08 billion by
2010.
"As fuel prices and raw
material costs continue to increase,
enterprises have become more
vigilant of the rising operational
and production costs that will
affect their bottom line. They
therefore need quick and accurate
access to operational information
that will help to improve cost
management and facilitate the
decision making process,"
says Alan Tong, Research Manager
of Asia/Pacific Enterprise Applications
Research at IDC . "IDC
therefore expects that Business
Performance Management (BPM)
and Financial Analytical Applications
will become the main drivers
of the ERM market."

IDC's
Asia/Pacific Online Survey of
IT End Users Reveals the Mindshare
Dominance of Large Vendors in
Security Software Market

and Hong Kong, Sep 14, 2006
- According
to the online survey conducted
by IDC in early 2006, many of
the respondents believed that
the large security software
vendors were the most innovative
and were able to provide customers
with the best licensing and
maintenance support. The survey
results are published in IDC's
report namely "Security
Software Vendors: Which Are
Most Popular?" (Doc# AP322309N).
IDC Asia/Pacific forecasts the
security software market in
Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan)
to reach US$1.7 billion in 2010,
representing a 5-year CAGR of
16%. There is huge potential
as several countries in the
region, such as PRC and Thailand,
are still relatively nascent
in terms of market penetration.
Adoption is likely to increase
as enterprise IT infrastructures
become more complex and enterprises
better understand the criticality
of protecting their IT infrastructure.
Meanwhile, incumbents are going
after acquisitions aggressively
to build out their portfolios,
while IT giants in adjacent
markets are also entering the
security market, making it highly
competitive.
