IDC Explores The Economy Of Ecology At Its Inaugural Asia/Pacific Green IT Event
Singapore and Hong Kong, August 5, 2008 – Driven by the realization that climate change is an issue that businesses can, and should, mitigate, both commercial and government organizations are under pressure to 'go green'. IDC's research has shown this driver has filtered down into the IT department as organizations question what Green IT can do in this overall 'Green' strategy. IDC Finds Disk Storage Systems and Tape Automation Drive Storage Hardware Growth in Asia/Pacific Excluding Japan Region
Singapore and Hong Kong, August 21, 2008 –According to the latest IDC report "Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) Combined Disk and Tape Market: 2007 (Doc# AP261107Q), the total sales of disk storage systems in Asia/Pacific Excluding Japan (APEJ) grew 19.5% year–on–year in 2007. Over the same period, sales of tape products contracted 1.7% year–on–year.
The total APEJ disk and tape storage market was worth US$3.8 billion in 2007. Disk storage systems typically account for the lion's share of storage hardware sales in the APEJ region. In 2007, disk storage systems accounted for 84.3% of storage hardware revenue, while branded tape automation and single drives accounted for 9.4% and 6.3% of revenue respectively.
